7 YEARS BY MIRA. FROM DODDLES TO DOLLS is not a new project, but an old one of my mum’s, with my drawings collected into a small Television program with music by Danish Composer Fuzzy. First shown on Danish National Television (DR) on the 3rd of Dec. 1986. A few days after my little brother was born and a few days before my grandmother died. Grandmother took care of me when we saw one of the drawings pictured in the printed weekly TV-guide. I visited my mum, who was a television producer and director for art and cultural programs, in the small editing room with a huge editing table ‘hidden’ away, in a basement I think, far out in the headquarters of DR, beyond the outskirts of Copenhagen. They edited with it with scissors and tape, and laughed in the far too smoky editing room, with a few beers – and my heavily pregnant mother (that most likely would not have happened today!)
While I’ve been collecting ‘things’ and ‘projects’ for my Christmas Calendar in 2024, 24 social media posts from the 1st-24th of December, it’s like all the ‘projects’ in some way, have strings leading back to this little TV-program, which I am lucky now to have a copy of from the DR-Archive. Here’s a part of it with my drawings from year 5 that I posted on Christmas Eve 2024. Christmas Eve 2024 also marked 9 years since our mum passed away, so it was also a huge holiday greeting to her and from her.
